1999 Volvo s70 wont start and displays green lambda

Post by faddishworm »

Hey guys,

I have had some issues with my volvo starting. We have had a record breaking cold snap (3 degrees celsius) in Brisbane and I had trouble starting it.

I assumed it was the cold, so tried to warm it up by pumping the starter motor a bit. However I think I drained the battery.

I then charged the battery, and now its full. I changed all the spark plugs and I checked the distributor cap (it seems ok).

The car now starts for about 2-3 seconds, but then stall and wont turn over again. The dashboard is displaying the mysterious green lambda sign and I can't seem to find it in the manual.

Does anyone know what the issue might be? Attached is a pic of the dash lights, thanks.

The 850/ C70 forum on this site says the lamba light is the non-US version of the check engine light.

Try checking for diagnostic codes?

Chances are you need a fuel pump relay,...also, can you hear your fuel pump clicking on when you turn on the ignition (but not start the engine?) Other common culprits are crank sensor, and coolant temp sensor. You can invest in an OBD reader to read your lamba/check engine light or have a mechanic read it
