740 1990 300,000 miles, Cruise control

My cruise control just stopped. It is not the fuse. Are there other easy things to check?

Further checks on the cruise control can be done using the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) unit in the engine compartment. Unfortunately, you will have to link the cruise control unit to the OBD using a long jumper wire which you can make up yourself. The test procedure is lengthy but I can post it for you if you wish to go ahead. Some of the later, more complex tests can only be done with a proper Volvo jumper wire.

Bear in mind that this is intended for experienced mechanics so some of the info won't be of much use. I suggest that you read page 11 first. There you will find the instructions for conducting the initial test. It is important that this is done after a run in which the car exceeds 22mph and the ignition is not switched off before interrogating the diagnostic unit.
