2000 s80 155000 miles

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2000 s80 155000 miles

Post by angelglo »

i have had my 97 850 glt for 11 years no and has been very reliable. but now, its about time to look for another car. I was thinking about a 2000 s80 with 155000 miles. i have been reading about how much trouble these cars have been having. The person wants $3300.00 for it. it has

Options - Fully Loaded:
-Dual Climate Control
-Air conditioning
-Tape and CD Player
-Cruise Control
-Power Sunroof/Moonroof
-Power Seating
-Leather Seating
-Heated front seats
-Anti-Lock disk breaks
-Driver and Passenger front air bags

body only has a vew door dings and she says it runs fine. interior is supposed to be in good order. So, should i consider buying this or not even look at the 2000 s80's. im not looking to spend alot so this car is kinda in my price range for a commuter car. i have a obd2 sensor that i use for my 97. should i bring it along and plug it into the 2000 model and if so is the plug still in the same place under the coin holder?

tia

I don’t know about issues with that model, but it ‘seems’ like a good price. The 155K miles works out to 15.5k a year, which is about average.

Bring the ODBII scanner – not sure where to connect it, but you’ll find it.

Ask about – and review - service records.

Check the recall notices and see if they’ve been addressed: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/

“interior is supposed to be in good order.” – haven’t seen it yet? Do a full visual inspection, looking for leaks and wear. If you can jack it up to inspect the brake pads, engine mounts, RMS, etc., even better.

If it is the twin turbo model then if would not go for it. The twin turbo models tend to be very unreliable. Also, these were the years of the ETM issues.

I talked with the seller today. She said the etm has already been relplaced. Can they go bad again? She also mentioned that the ecru has also been replaced.

This is a non turbo model. Thx for all the help guys

I would agree the volvo to avoid is the Volvo S80 '99 and '00 model years.

Keep looking for an '01 or newer S80, avoid the trap that's "super clean volvo"

Ok, I bought it. I hope this turns out good. Top motor mount cracked at rubber bushing and it sounds like left hub starting to whine. I bought it for $2800.00

Well, I’m sure my daughter (who just got her driving permit! ) would LOVE the thought, but the economy hit me hard so I’m just getting back up on my feet. If you give any thought to parting it out, keep all of us in mind!

I thought you wanted a daily driver, so why not keep it. $2800 was not a bad price.
