$$$$$ good trans for the money that ive found

Post by westdouglas »

I hope this post will remain as information only.I've had problems with my 01 v70 2.4t wagon for the last few months I've tried all the help posted on this forum and the tips have helped but not to where I was comforatable with them. The AW55-50sn automatic 5 speed trans problems was the same most have had and the trans after repeated flushes was replaced.I knew going into the flush and fill process, it may not be the permanent fix but was hopefull .The Dealer option was not going to happen either ,because as we all know 4600.00 is a lot for any car especially for a used car.I shopped around and found out that most of my local shops (tranny guys) do not do a whole lot of these and the just the labor, for a change out was 750.00 to 1000.00 the last guy I talked to was an EX-VOLVO dealer mechanic,he said Volvo dealers part of thier 4600.00 price tag only 750.00 was labor the rest had to do with parts and etc.I found a good deal at TRANSMISSIONPLANET.com 866-502-0810 the guys their are great to deal with so far I shopped a litle more and found a good reputable shop and got a good deal on install I supplied the fluid as well.Transmission Planet has a better warr on thier product as well a full 12mo more than the dealer.my cost was 1668.00 trans (delivered to me) 56.00 fluid and 450.00 on install. I have had the wagon back on the road for a few days now and the car drives out great. My wife does not want to get rid of it as of rt now.If you are having trans problems and want to save money do your home work and you can beat the socks off of the dealers.

Nice! It pays to be frugal and shop around. What is that a 60% or so off the dealers charge? I keep hearing of 01 tranny problems, I'm hoping these problems weren't I'm the C70's ><

westdouglas I see you're in Seymour. Small world. I'm off W Union Valley. After doing multiple transmission flushes I'm guessing that you're on a first name basis with the guys at either Advance or Autozone out on Chapman Hwy. I've become their best customer since acquiring my '02 XC70 a few weeks ago. Who did you end up using to do the swap. I'm hopeful that my tranny issues are resolved, but it'd be nice to know who I can take it to if I end up needing a replacement. Thanks for the tip on transmissionplanet.com
