1993 850 Blower Motor

Post by leighdkirby »

Okay, I am pretty sure that my blower motor is out. Sqealed on and off for about 6 months, quit for a week, came back, ran fine, then stopped altogether.

So, in looking into a replacement, I am wondering how I tell if it is indeed the blower motor? How would I know if it were the relay or the control panel?

Fuses are good and cool air comes out of the vents at highway speeds.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like bearing on motor fan went bad and is now failed. When a fan blade has power applied but can't turn freely eventually the motor burns up.

Thanks John,
That's what I thought. Of course, before I go to the trouble of installing the new fan...my husband asked if I were sure? What is it with you guys stealing our thunder?

Keep your fingers crossed!

Hmm, I've noticed a whirly-whirly noise coming from my blower motor, but only if I leave it on (manual setting 1-3), and drive over a pothole. The vibration sets off that damned noise. Goes away once you cycle the fan on and off a few times.

I'll ask this anyways, is my blower motor going to die (sounds funny how I ask this question)?
