I removed the intake tube first. My line was crumbling and was able to pull it off from the top. Granted I have long arms though. It was completely by feel though as I could not see anything. I was able to slip a new line one with a zip tie loosely attached, positioned it by feel and then cinched up the zip tie.

I managed to get it all done, test drive went well, etc. As far as getting that red coded vac line to the turbo off, the one below the compression bypass valve, I sprayed a lot of WD-40 on that fitting from below. Then, from above , kneeling on the engine, with some long, 45 degree needle nose pliers (long ones - 7" or more; best $8 I have spent in a while) reached down and pulled the hose off pretty much with brute force. The 12 year old hose separated at the clamp. Then I got down below again, and all the wiggling and pulling with the needle nose pliers had broken the hose loose from its stuck on state, and even with the clamp still on, I could slide it off with my fingers. Clean up the fitting a little, and put the new silicone hose on. I put it on from above, at least got it started, by kneeling on the engine and pushing it on the fitting. Then, from below, and given the limited room and pretty much working with my fingertips, got it worked on all the way. Took a while to work it fully on the fitting with just my fingertips. I had put a screw type clamp on it prior, so now with a couple of extensions and a universal joint with the socket, got the clamp tight.

For installing the compression bypass valve, I recommend getting the top two bolts loosely installed first. Then, the bottom of the housing will be pushed out a little from the body, which is OK, since it will help hold the lower bolt in place as you try to turn it with your fingertips. Then, it takes about 15 minutes of turning tiny bit by tiny bit with a 10mm wrench to get the thing tight.

So, expect to go from kneeling on top the engine to underneath the car a bunch of times during this. And have a lot of patience. Took me the better part of 8-9 hours total, but I am pretty new at working on my Volvo. Your mileage may vary....

Unfortunately, I did not take photos as I went. Here are a few photos I took towards the end.

I am writing something up on my install. May take a few days, and it will need review, I am sure.

Jim.

Attached is my write up on this TCV, TCV vacuum lines, and compression bypass valve replacement. No photos in the file, but the photos I posted earlier are about all I had. Next project I will take some pictures as I go.
Jim.
