After building a new 2.3 T5 engine with new
big end and main bearings
rebore + 0.04
new pistons and rings
new oil pump
water pump
timing belt + pulleys
ported /gas flowed culinder head
Garrett GT2871 Turbo
single mass Billet flywheel
5 Puck unsprung clutch
RC 750 cc injectors
and a MTE re mapp
My car has touble idling so I changed the flywheel sensor and noe the cam sensor fault has come up on my vct2000 'No singnal'
I have just ordered a new one but i dout this will cure the misfire as I have checked and double checked the timing belt and vvt and the exhaust cam.
when I fit the new cam sensor can anyone tell me how to check the signals from the cam and flywheel sensors.
The only thing i havent done is check the continuity of the wires from the cam sensor to the ecu.
I just want to know what to look for when testing the cam and flywheel sensors
Thanks
Alan

have you beefed up your electrical?
gap your plugs down,
bigger wires,
dist
coil
if the rest is solid, i'd start here.
Iac connected correctly.
tried disconnecting the maf yet?

The only code that comes up with vadis or vida is the cam semsor but i will check the maff by unpluging it just to be sure its not that.
Thanks

i'm wondering if the ECU isn't playing nice nice with other components

Mine is an ex UK cop car and is a 2.3 .
all the sensors I have used are off my old motor so they shouldnt be any problems unless they have gone duff.
And mechanic wise I dout any of the bits used to build this engine would throw a hissy fit with the ecu.
And in Sweeden there are a lot of p2 car's with well over 500 bhp.

agreed.
i can't imagine this is engine realted. it has to be electircal some how. I still want you to pull off the maf and see what happens.
bad gas?
lots of coil pacs going bad, maybe look at the VST ones.

I unpluged the coils one by one and the misfire got worse so did the maff when i unpluged that
The injectors are brand new and i have a wallbro fuel pump to fit but the car runs ok apart from a slight misfire when i get on the gas
Its difficult as vadis is only showing the cam sensor fault but i'm not 100% sure that its faulty and all the sensors are brand new apart from the knock sensor/ and the ones before the ETM .

not breaking your chops, if its under boost. i'd look at your plug gap or tune.
