Metal coolant pipe attached to engine *need fix*

Post by Aramelli »

I noticed i was starting to lose coolant, so i decided to do a pressure test on the 1996 volvo 850 2.3l Turbo. Upon pressuring i spotted a leak in the hose that connects between the turbo and the engine pipe. (Picture below) I will be going to get a replacement hose from Volvo in the morning, but I noticed that the notch that the hose slips into on the engine pipe has rust and has started decaying. I was thinking about applying a thin layer of JB weld on the pipe to give it a good coating, but decided to make this post to see if anyone had any better ideas.

Basically what i want to do is patch up the metal pipe so it'll last. The pipe looks like it would be insanely difficult to replace, and i'm not looking forward to doing it in the future.

As long as you clean the work area thoughly it will work great. Follow the instructions and cure time as well.

+1

Make sure the rust is cleaned off and let it cure overnight to be sure it is nice and hard. Slip the tub back on and you should be good to go.
