AC Doesnt Work
We had 100 degree temps here in the Northeast last week. My AC Recir and On/Off Light flashed and then the AC died out. Just prior, the fan was changing speeds with no adjustment from me. I bought a cabin temp sensor, the one next to the stereo, nothing. Any other ideas?

If you have the diag box behind the passenger headlight, you can pull codes to figure out what the problem is.
What year is the car? Do you have the MCC or ECC? I'll guess ECC but correct me if I'm wrong. The codes will help focus on where the problem is and what to do about it. It could be the compressor needs to be shimmed, or you're low on refrigerant, or the temp. sensors by the grab handles are in need of a cleaning - or a few other things. Post your codes and let us know.

Year/Model is needed!
But you said the fan was adjusting itself with no input? If it was doing that and you didn't have it set to "Auto" then I would guess your resistor is going out.
But if you don't want to fiddle with it all, simply go to the dealer and ask them to pull the ECC codes. Then you can replace whatever needs fixing yourself w/o throwing money at parts you don't need.

+1
Let's hope your car is a 94 - 95. Those were the only 2 years that you were able to check the codes without a Volvo scanner. If it is newer then a 95, off to the dealer, you will go. Keep us posted.

I pulled the codes and it gives me only one P0410-Secondery Injection System. This was the same code I pulled when I bought it, could be anything related to the fuel system. Been driving the car ever since, so I wasnt able to pull a code that dealt with the AC. I dont have have sensors near the handle pull things, just one by the dash under the instrument cluster, the little vent looking thing. Put another one in. Still no AC, no flashing lights (Recir and On/Off). The day it died, it was 100 out, the fan speed would rise and fall on Auto, then it died, came back on for a short time a few hours later then died again. No squeeling noise from the fan before it happened.

The reason they are asking about your year is that there are sometimes two code reader ports. One in the engine area, and one under the coin tray. Assuming you have an 850, since you are in that forum. Someone on here will be able to help you. Good luck.

That's a 98 or later, in which case you're out of luck for reading the codes yourself. Stop by a dealer and get the codes read before you go about throwing any more parts at it.I dont have have sensors near the handle pull things, just one by the dash under the instrument cluster, the little vent looking thing.

The SAS is part of an emissions system to warm up the cat. converter upon startup. If you live in an area that tests emissions, you’ll fail the test but the car runs fine without it working. It’s fairly simple to replace, just a pain to spend 300 bucks for the air pump, which usually dies because of water collecting inside. There’s a few posts showing how to repair it yourself if you feel like it, or just run out and buy a new one.curtis68 wrote:I pulled the codes and it gives me only one P0410-Secondery Injection System.

Thanks for that info on the Converter. I still need to figure out what else I have to replace to get the AC back on again. Replaced the cabing sensor, there appears to be only one on the dash, not able to pull any fault codes for the AC.

If you have an ECC (hint hint hint!), there's 4 sensors - two in the middle vents and one behind each of the grab handles.
