960 hub replacement

Post by Russkii »

Hello all,
I have a Volvo 960, 1995 that needs a new front wheel hub. I want to try changing it myself since mechanic wants 400$ for it.
I already bought the hub assembly (with bearing inside) for 150$.
I will really appreciate if you give me some advise. Is there something I need to be really careful about or it is pretty straight forward?
I found a nice link :
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/bearing.php
but it is not exactly the same.
So, any help will be appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Hi, I found a description for 940, and that must be the same for your car. You must have a new hub nut, so hopfully you have got that in your hub assembly kit and also a new dust protection (because the old one has to be destroed when loosening it).
The nut for the hub is very thight fastened, so you need a lot of tourque to release it.
When the new hub is assembled you put on the new nut and tighten it with 100Nm. After that you continue to thigten it with 45 degrees!
