Engine problem, looking for diagnosis

No. Before you go throwing money at it, change the plugs. You'll spend $10, and it takes all of about 20 minutes. These engines are perhaps the easiest ever to change them on, everything's right on top of the engine there under the little black cover. THEN if it's still misfiring, go forward with the rest.

Yep, that's it. Very simple...remove the Torx screws on top, take off the cover, pull off the boot over the plug, and pull out the plug.

I don't use a torque wrench to re-tighten them - just spin it on with the socket in your hand til its tight, then attach the socket wrench and give it maybe 1/2 turn. You want them to be tight, but don't strip the threads.

It doesn't look like you have a turbo, so it makes it even easier for you because there's not pipes in your way.
