I hardly use the sunroof but had to when the electric windows wouldn't go down (not good in 90 degree weather!). After getting that fixed, I found that the sunroof had gone off track and would not close. I can get it closed to about 1/8 of an inch, but it is tilting toward the back.
It is a manual crank that recedes back into the roof, not the kind that tilts up.
Any suggestions?
1991 240 sunroof off track
Turns out it was NOT off track, it was the gear in the hand crank. The gear is set to turn only so far and if it goes past that, it will quit turning and just click. When you hear this click and the sunroof refuses to budge, this gear needs to be reset.
Unscrew the crank handle. Underneath you will see the gear. You need to unscrew it to reset the gear piece. So simple it's hard to describe but once you take the handle and gear piece out, you'll see what I mean.
