rear door panel removal

My rear driver side window appears to be "detached" from the regulator and/or motor. Motor seems to work fine, but the window can move up and down only by hand. First step to trouble shooting is to remove the rear door panel. It seems that these can be buggers at times. Any tricks or special tools needed so I don't destroy the panel?

No big deal on these door panels. You'll find little found plugs around the perimeter of the panel...it has a little round stem in it...push these in and the plugs will detach themselves from the door itself and the door panels will lift of and out. There might be something around the handles but I don't recall them being too much trouble for the rear doors. Post back if you still have problems and I'll try to look it up.

That was the easiest panel I've ever removed. Thanks. Now the tough part.

I found a busted little plastic pulley inside the door panel, where a cable was used to move the window up and down.

It seems that the window motor is working fine, but the cable is clearly not wound properly around the motor sheave, and I found that half piece of plastic sheave (not sure where this went).

Am I at the mercy of the dealership to get this fixed? It looks like the motor/regulator assembly is riveted in.

I'll try to post some pictures later.

This post looks two years old? I have the same problem but with the rear right passenger side regulator pulley is also busted. Most quotes that have seen to have this repaired are in the $325 to $370 range. The regulator and motor part is about $215 to $250 from what I can find on line. My only fear is that I won't be able to fix it myself. What did you end up doing?
