I had to replace the battery on my 1999 S80 T6 last night, luckily I was shopping at a mall where there was a SEARS. To my utter astonishment SEARS had a battery for my car! I put the new battery in, the car started right up, no problems, right?
WRONG!
After driving about 25 miles the battery indicator light started glowing and the message center displayed "electrical system service required".
My first thought was perhaps the alternator was bad, but I had to drive for another 30 minutes, in the dark, to get home, and I had plenty of power, good lights, etc. In other words it wasn't like I was just running on the battery, which would have been nearly spent with that load on it if the alternator wasn't working.
I've heard that the almighty VADIS system will sometimes not like a non-OEM battery and display the message I got.
Any ideas? The nearest dealer is about 50 miles away, so I would like to have some possible leads to follow before I make the trek.
Thanks!

It's nothing to do with what KIND of battery.
You obviously have another problem.
I don't understand why you guys don't go to a Volvo dealer with these kinds of problems.
Their computer (VIDA) is far more sophiticated with troubleshooting.
A commercial scanner will just give a general code, VIDA will check the entire car and pin point the exact problem area.
