Silverstar bulbs
In my car's continual thirst for lightbulbs, I installed some Sylvania Silverstar bulbs last night. The Ultra's cost $10 more for a set, and only put out 100K more light, so I don't think it's worth it. But all I've got to say is WOW! My terrible low-beams go MUCH further...in the process of moving late at night, I didn't even have to resort to my high-beams. I'm impressed, and for a (relatively) cheap fix next to E-codes or other headlights, it's definitely something I'd recommend.

I've used the Silverstar headlights in my 940, and yes, they make a tremendous difference. However, their lifetime is very short. I was having to put in a new bulb every 3 or 4 months. Granted, I drive this car 1500 miles a week, but it just got to be a pain constantly changing bulbs, so I went back to the regular ones. They seem to last a year or more

I have gotten the Ultras on eBay for much less than the regular Silverstars at Wal-Mart. I'm not sure on my Volvos but I just replaced them in my wife's Odyssey after six months. They do carry a disclaimer that they won't last as long as conventional bulbs but it's worth it for my old eyes

I tried them once and they lasted less than a year IIRC. Not worth my time since I had to remove the headlight housing on my Nissan to change the bulbs or have hands of a 4yr old.

It seems like I'm changing a bulb every couple months anyway. We'll see how long they last. But if it means I can see further down the road and avoid the deer that are EVERYWHERE around here, it's all the more worth it to me. I missed one by inches just the other night.
I really want the new-gen C70 lights...just got to find some or save up for some. They look great on the S70.

I replaced mine with the Osram H7 in my S70 and V70. I am very satisfied with the H7 as well as the reverse, brake and taillights from Candlepower. Here is a link to another sight that I got my info from http://volvoxc.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4969&page=3
I've heard that Philips X-Treme power and Osram Night breaker are good and cheap. You can get them form http://www.powerbulbs.com. They ship worldwide for free

I use the Silverstar's on my Maxima and they work great and I've had them for over a year and I do a lot of night driving(not 1500 a week) but quite a bit. There actually supposed to last longer but maybe not for every auto, I'm going to install them on my 9' 850GLT eventually, like when the stock ones wear out or something.Kirby J wrote:I've used the Silverstar headlights in my 940, and yes, they make a tremendous difference.
