2000 S80 beeping after locked, dealer said "Siren Fault"

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2000 S80 beeping after locked, dealer said "Siren Fault"

Post by jeffers »

Thanks for reading,

2000 S80, it starts beeping after I lock it, it's the siren beeping in a low volume.

Dealer said its "Siren Fault", cost $450 to repair it.

I was wondering, is there anyway I could repair it by myself? Do I need a
new siren or what?

Any suggestions will be appreciated!!! Thanks a million!

You will need a new siren module, fairly easy replacement, +/-$180 part.
here is a great write-up on how to replace it

thanks a lot for the response, jbrown122.

Do I need a new siren, or just need to change the battery inside the siren?

If I need to replace a new siren, do I need to reset the software? I cannot set the software
by myself, right?

thanks a lot!

I believe the battery leaks.. and basically kills electrical components on the interior of the module.
You can pair the module up with the car by simply locking/unlocking the doors 3x. So no dealer software is necessary
