2001 V70 with Bent Frame..Can it be fixed?
I have a 2001 v70 that is the love of my life. I searched forever for this car & 2 months after having it, a friend crashed it. The body shop I had it towed to said the frame was bent and that it couldn't be fixed because there are no parts for it. I'm sceptical about their opinion. If the frame is bent can it be fixed? Is it really expensive? The damage is to the front. Any advice would be really appreciated. The thought of parting it out kills me

A 2001 is a very bad year (1st year car) and trust me will not be the love of your life in a year or so!
However, if the SUBFRAME is bent, what is done is it's replaced.
Probably costs more than the car is worth to fix it.
Don't you have insurance?
You can find used subframes out of wrecking yards for cheap from a car that was, say rear ended, but it's still about a 10-12 hour job (minimum) to replace it

Sorry for your loss. Bent frames are generally a death knell--even if straightened, the metal is rarely in the exact same shape and can be come brittle. People do fix them, but they are rarely the same.
If you (or your insurance company) do decide to part it, PLEASE pm me here or email talk2sean at gmail dot com.

Thank you for the info! I really appreciate it. How do I determine if its the sub frame that's bent? I figured it would be expensive to fix but I'm pretty sure I will never find something similar with only 56k miles and I only paid $2000 for it. Regarding insurance, I didn't have full coverage & the accident was totally his fault
Thanks again for your time!

Sorry about your car, I hope your freind is ok. If ur friend is ok, go to a small claims court and sue your friend for damages.
That's the only way u can get some dough to fix ur car from the offending party. So the moral of the story is to never lend your car. If your friend has his/her own auto insurance, they ought to cover the damages but only if they have full coverage on his/her own insurance. Consult a lawyer. Good luck
