I was using the cigarette lighter to power a 12-volt tire inflator compressor to inflate a small baby pool thingy for my 10-month-old son. It took about 20 minutes of runtime to inflate the pool, then the inflator was shut off but not unplugged, then -- this is where the story gets murky -- sometime later the key was removed from the car. My wife was in charge of that (why the story is murky).
Next day, no power. So I jumped it from my 850 after digging in the back to get to the buried (original OEM) battery and things are fine. They really enjoyed designing a "tamper-proof" battery location .

These cars do NOT like the key being on for more than 15 minutes, PLUS the fact that you were charging an
older battery, it just died.
(Happened to me a long time ago)!!!
You may want to buy a new battery if this is the original,
I just had to put one in an 05 (R) with 40K miles!

That jumper port above. Connect the negative cable to part of the frame; connect the positive cable to that; then connect the other two to the other car's battery.
