Warming up the car while it is locked

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Warming up the car while it is locked

Post by s80inoregon »

Hi, first post to this forum, I have a 2005 S80 T6 and I like to warm up my car in the morning. But, I don't like leaving it unlocked. I can't figure out a way using the valet key or an additional key to start the engine and lock the car. It simply won't let you. The service dept does not know how to overide that autolock. I tried pushing the remote button, manually pushing down the knob, pushing the interior button and even going through the passenger door. Nothing works. Any ideas or am I just going to have to take my chances and leave my car unlocked while it is warming up?
Thanks, Steve

On Hondas (for instance, there may be others -- haven't tried it with my Volvo) you can override the anti-lockout feature by engaging the inside door handle (to open the door) then push down the lock knob. Then shut the door.
