How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

Upgrading my 97 850GLT

Post by Skottynan »

So this all started with needing a new heater core, ac clutch, and air pump. After going online to find parts I ran into a few sites touting all that a Volvo can really do. To my glorious surprise these volvos(850/70) are super performance machines! I've had my 850 for 5 hrs now and had no clue what these cars were capable of. I'm not gonna lie, I've ran my car car into the ground a couple of times. Had a valve job and other minor repairs done by my local independent Volvo shop in Albuquerque. Done the ac condensor, water pump, radiator, and oil pan myself in years past. These were all the result of driving way too hard and sometimes rallying it up a bit in the desert. Poor car, stupid young owner. Anyways all has been forgiven by my Volvo and I'm pretty sure the car and I are on great terms now. So let's get to the good part. After finding out the mods available to my car I purchased some things and have a wishlist that will be finished in a month or so. So far I've replaced all hoses, EST cutback exhaust, coil upgrade, rotor and cap, IPD intake, poly mounts, new wires and plugs, turned the WG rod one full turn, hd cpv upgrade, boost gauge, and I think that's it so far. Next is suspension and sway bar upgrades plus tires. Then a 3" dp with magnaflow cat and IPD ecu. Anyone have suggestions or comments/questions please reply. Volvo for Life!

Have you considered having the ECU remapped ? One turn on the wastegate won't do much might take the slack out to get a good advantage 3 turns or 4 at maximum on the wastegate will give a little more boost
