Help me ID a Squeek

My 2000 V40 (92k) has developed a squeek from the front drivers side suspension?. My auto man said he looked and it could be a dry bush or more likely to be a ball joint. He said he fired some liquid grease into the gator and its helped a bit. Anyone any other ideas?

Jim - we have a 2000 V40 that had an annoying squeak whenever coming to a stop. It sounded like metal on metal grinding/squeaking and it was more prominent when the car was cold. We eventually - after MANY dealers visits - found that it was the engine mounts. They initially replaced only the top mounts (duh! in retrospect) and then fixed the problem when they replace the bottoms. I'd guess that it was at about the same mileage as yours. Just something to consider. Terry

My garage man replaced the drivers side ball joint and arm which has solved the problem.
