Hello everyone!
Just picking up fantastic 1996 volvo 960 with 302,000k's on it ( yes it was a great price!)
The car condition is extremely over the top clean and really well maintained based on the available receipts.
- regular oil and fluid changes, wear items ( belts, timing belt), seals and gaskets, bearings etc.
other than the leather peeling off the door panel tops (minor) IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR TO MAINTAIN OR BE PREPARED FOR ON THE 960 FOR HIGH MILEAGE MAINTENANCE?[/b]Previous rides included '88 760GLE , '94 940, '95 850 GLE.
Based on the Carfax, the vehicle has had 2 previous owners, the first one drove it moderately at 28,000k/year and the last one did 55,000k/ year.
If you send me your input, I'll cross reference it with service receipts.
Really appreciate you expertise ladies and gentlemen.

Check and replace any questionable fluid, Assure the timing belt is not due.
Replace belt, idlers, tensioner and water pump if mileage on them is unknown.
Oxy sensors should have been replaced at 100,000 miles
Grease bump stops and check torque on all subframe and suspension bolts.
replace fuel filter while under there.
Check electrical wires that run between the intake runners. The get brittle and then short out.
Air filter and plugs if mpg is low

Intake runners near manifold?
new exhaust 6 months ago, with oxy sensors, and cat.
Is the pcv an issue on 960's. no mention of it on receipts but no symptoms either ( smoke from dipstick, rear end or oil on valve cover etc). Pain to replace in 850 how is it on 960?
tires 1 year old 40k, with even wear.
fluids all good - checked out on receipts as per regular maintenance.
timing belt done @ 274,000k with other belts, tensioners adjusted and idlers good to date.

PCV is an issue - these are never an issue if good quality oil and proper change intervals are used.
Air flows from the filter through the throttle body and then though the intake(sometimes called intake manifold) . The 960 has a few wires that go through the intake (between the cylinder runners). Check them. No wires though exhaust manifold as they would melt immediately.
The tubes of the intake manifold that deliver the air to the head are intake runners.
