I have a 2001 S40 that has a disturbing problem. The engine will suddenly quit . The radio goes off and the dashboard lights go out as well. It is as if the ignition switch was turned to OFF. And , I suspect that may be the very problem, a faulty ignition switch.
This happens in a very intermmitant fashion-Perhaps once a month.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

A bad ignition switch is a common problem on some of the older cars. With the engine running and radio on try wiggling the key to see if you can cause the problem. If you do it is definitely a bad electrical portion of the ignition switch.
