DIY Alignment V70R 06 how is camber adjusted?

Post by V70Rfan »

Hi,
I'd like to try a DIY alignment (google it if you have to)
Found the tie rod for setting toe in the front, but how is camber and caster adjusted ?
The control arm bolts look like they've never been moved.
Is the adjustment at the to lower shock bolts?
or the top of the shock?

I know the rear camber is non adjustable, just the toe . . is this correct?

Thank you.

The Camber is adjusted with the two lower strut mount bolts. The upper is slotted, the lower is the pivot.
But why?
There are some cool eccentric bolts for making camber adjustment easier from IPD.

I thought only the eccentric bolts are offered for the rear camber kit.
So the Caster is not adjustable?

No caster is not adjustable as in most McPherson strut cars these days. Eccentric bolts to replace the lower front strut are also available from H&R and Ingalls (http://www.ingallseng.com/35420-14mm-fa ... uster.html). The latter are many times available from your local NAPA store. What I found that there was enough adjustment in the slop in the stock bolts to give you about 1 degree of adjustability. If you do one eccentric you can get up to 2 degrees and if you use eccentric on both bolts more like 4 degrees. They are also pretty cheap.

Thanks you all for the advice.

So adjustments for A DIY Alignment with the stock suspension are:
front: camber and toe
rear: toe

What are the torque specs on the bolts?

Yep, that's about it. Some say you can get a bit of rear camber adjustment by loosening and playing with the inner pivot bolt on the lower link where it connects to the rear diff carrier. With mine, I have found the rear settings to be right on despite running Eibachs and lowering the rear by about 35mm. As far as bolt torque, I just put the beef to it which results in something close to about 70 lb. Frankly, I've never actually looked up the setting. Normally for most cars I have checked it's in the 60-70 range anyway.

Cheers,
