Low Gear (850 Turbo)

Post by iLLuZi0n »

I have noticed that in my 850 Turbo, when you are going down a hill and shift into "L" (low gear) it utilizes 2nd and 1st gears. When you are stopped and have the car in "L" and drive, it doesn't shift from 1st to 2nd...

Is something wrong with that? I am not sure to be honest, so if anyone can be helpful enough to tell me if their car shifts, that would ne nice.

Thanks,
Carson

For the downshift, think of it from an engine-management standpoint. You don't want the revs go beyond redline, so if the human shifts you to a low gear that would force rpm's over redline, you'd pick the next taller gear, and check to see if that will violate the redline. Repeat as necessary until a suitable gear is engaged.

My 850 does the same thing as yours; it's normal.

ok, i assumed it was normal, but wasnt sure...

i was driving in low (off the line) and then i noticed it was revving pretty high, and never shifted, so i was thinking to myself "this isnt very good" so i shifted, but thanks for the re-assurance
