850 hard starting when warm

Post by jackw129 »

My '95 850 (non-turbo) GLT wagon starts fine every morning and if it sits all day. The problem is it won,t start when it has sat for about an hour or two. Any ideas?

My guess would be the ECT (coolant temp sensor).

How long does it take your car to warm up from a cold start? If it is any more than 2-3 minutes, you need to change out the thermostat and coolant temp sensor.

Thanks sounds like a good starting point for me also. How often should coolant be changed (mild winter climate)?

Every 2 years is a good interval to stick to.

If you've never changed either of your radiator hoses, now would be a good time to do that as well as change out the thermostat and coolant. You can have the whole thing back together again in less than 2 hours easily.
