Surging on cold startup on '00 V70

Post by crash813 »

This issue has been happening for awhile now. On the first startup in the morning, its starts fine, idles fine, but if you apply the throttle under load before the car warms up, it surges and almost dies. Will continue to do this until the car is warm from a minute or two of driving and then no issue. Can leave the car parked at work for 8+ hours and start the car up and no issue, even when cold. Its only overnight, 15+ hours of sitting. This is in Texas in the summer, so temps never drop below 75 degrees. No codes at all. Every other driving situation, the car is fine.
Its very frustrating. Cleaned the ETM earlier this spring for some hesitation at highway speeds. CVT module was replaced at the beginning of summer when it failed and a code came up. Other than that, the car is in good condition. I'm wondering if the MAF is having issues, and the wire is slow to warm up to measure the incoming air.

Any other ideas?
