Just bought a 2002 V70 XC. 110,000 it has been dealer serviced from day one even down to the cabin air filters and light bulbs. Timing belt replaced at 108k, but after exploring this site I am seeing so many issues. Switched from a Voltswagen Jetta TDI and I hoping for several good years out of this vehicle.
Here are a few small problems I am finding so far:
Remote only locks car, but won't unlock it, it clicks but doesn't unlock. It locks/unlocks from inside just fine and with the key its fine. It does want to lock after only a few seconds of pulling the key out, really annoying.
Gas gauge only goes to half a tank and it stops.
Transmission clunks when you shift from N to D, not everytime, but most of the time. It shifts great, seems very smooth while driving, except when slowing down I feel a clunk.
I did purchase a 6 month powertrain warranty.
I greatly appreciate any thoughts!
Newbie Questions
check the color of the tranny fluid, if not pink, change ASAP. 01-02 MY trannies have a high failure rate.
Check the tranny mount, that could be the reason for the clunk, or again the tranny......
Lock/unlock the car with the key 3x in a row. That will reset the security system. See if that helps.

Lock and unlock 3 times with the KEY not the remote
Check all your motor mounts (3 of them) front (lower right side of car, you need to remove the fender liner to get at it) upper torque mount, the one right on top of the engine and tranny mount and change that tranny fluid ASAP

The dealer is offering me some options like an extra 6 month warranty on powertrain, but I am still nervous. I could probably push for an "out" on the deal, should I? Would a year warranty be enough time for it to go bad if the "clunk" really is the trany going out?
I will try the key thing.
I will try the key thing.
