I recently purchased a '96 850GLT and not long after I noticed a problem developing. I experience extended cranking while trying to start the car, especially when cold. I'll usually have to crank the car 5-15 seconds JUST to start it. After that it runs great! My concern is wearing down the starter and battery so I would like to figure this out. Another thing, is I can start it faster if I move the key to the 'on' position, then back off-on-off-on about 5-10 times to prime the fuel system, then crank it after. It will usually fire pretty quick then, but it doesn't solve my problem.
Since then I worked in price-wise order to replace things:
fuel filter
pressure regulator
Bosch (OEM) fuel pump
- This didn't come w/ the assembly
OEM pump from e-bay from a '97 w/ the assembly
I don't know what it could be, because the injectors are NOT leaking and there are no visible fuel leaks. The car is losing fuel pressure as soon as you shut it off if that helps anyone. It is supposed to hold ~29lbs for up to 20min I believe. I've ordered a check valve for another model to install. Is this prossibly going to work?! ANy advice would be GREAT!!!
