V70 climate control panel indicator LEDs
V70 climate control panel indicator LEDs
The LEDs indicating the settings of all the climate control switches have stopped working- they're either all on or all off. The controls still work, it's just hard to know where some of them are set. No work has been done on the car recently- it's a 2005 V70. I tried the CCM reset procedure (disconnect battery, join positive and negative leads, reconnect with key in II position), but it made no difference. Has anyone else run into this problem and is there something else to try before resorting to the dealer's service department?
Took the car to the dealer to check the CCM today. They said the module needs to be replaced- $1550 plus software, plus labour, plus taxes. On my 140s or 240s the same problem would have meant a $1 bulb replacement. Also they found the differential electronic module not working (I obviously don't need AWD, since I never noticed), an even more expensive repair. Time to trade for something more reliable.

You can also do the same with the DEM
Buy used, save a TON!
(labor is not much to replace those)

arnV70, glad you got fixed for cheap.
Sometimes asking the right question on a friendly forum will get you in the right direction. Well, the dealer would love to sell you expensive computer modules and the software downloads plus labor = $$$$.
Most of the time, if you replace a control module with a used one from same year donor, you'll be fine.
