XC90 Leak on Passanger Side

Post by GJM4AU »

My 2005 XC90 2.5T has a significant leak that our dealer is having a difficult time trying to diagnose. The leak is visible inside the car in the front passanger floorboard well and running along the bottom opening of the glove box. Any ideas?

Does it happnen during rainfall? Clogged rain gutter drain?

Otherwise, clogged AC drain? Check the S40/V40 forum for a recent post about this.

It leaks primarily in the rain. The dealerships first response was to replace the windhsield seal. They did not do that and went on to fix the rain drain you mentioned. That did not work. It is now back in the shop and they tell us they are going to try what they did the first time by rplacing the windshield and seal.

We just noticed the floorboard on the driver's side of our 2004 XC-90 is very wet. We don't think it is due to rain. We'll have the dealer check the A/C drain as suggested on this forum. Any other suggestions would be welcome.
We are also concerned about water damage/rust to the floorboard.
Thanks!

We finally got our problem fixed. It turns out there is a cowling that was not attached or poorly attached. At any rate the dealer we use in Birmingham, al finally got it right. I would suggest your service department contact the Royal Volvo dealership in Birmingham on the the solution. The service rep we worked with, Martin should know what you are talking about. He was glad to finally have our problem corrected.

Thanks for the tip!
We just had our XC-90 serviced and they found a blocked sun roof drain.
Apparently there is a tech bulletin on this repair. It hasn't rained yet, so we're not certain this fixed the problem but seems like a logical fix.
