ABS cable question

Post by marvin46917 »

I need to attach the ABS sensor cable on my V70 CX. Where does it go? I just bought this car from my father in law and he thought that it hooked up someplace under the back seat, but he was not sure. I just want to make sure that I am looking in the right place. Any help that anyone could give would be great. Thanks.

No such a thing as an ABS sensor cable nor do you have a car named a V70 CX, so please articulate what you're trying to say here and also learn what you own.
What are you trying to achieve?

I meant V70 XC. Please forgive me for the typo. Perhaps this is not called a "cable" but it connects to the ABS sensor. If I knew exactly what I was looking for, I would't need to ask. So help me or don't, but there is no need for rudeness.

Not being rude, just have no idea what you're referring to and still don't
Ther is no cable that goes to the ABS module.

Now if you mean a wheel SENSOR, I'm not sure.
I've never heard of any issue with them on a later car
Please just say what's wrong with the car instead of trying to figure out a term for something that may not be needed.

Please think for a second, if you don't know what you're looking for, how can we be of help?
Suggestion... have a mechanic tell you what may be needed then ask.
Can't read your mind

ok. The ABS and anti skid light is lit up on the dash. I was told that there is a sensor back by the rear passenger tire. If that is not the case or it is not an easy fix, I'm just going to let it go for now. I'm sorry for the confusion, I am just frustrated and I am starting to regret this purchase.

If your car is between a 96 and 2001 they ALL have bad ABS modules and need repair
(Bad soldering)
The code will say a wheel sensor but 99% of the time it's not it's the unit
You send it the Module, (in the engine compartment) out for a rebuild, this will cost you between only $50 to $100 (plus whatever the charge is to R&R the unit), the fix is usually permanent.
If you need some names where to send it, please let me know.

I'm assuming you're taking this to a non Volvo mechanic?

The first thing to do is find a mechanic who knows these cars, they would have said what I said.Owning an older Volvo requires some knowledge about the car.
This is COMMON problem and the fix is cheap!

Ask the questions here or on other Volvo websites BEFORE you take it to a mechanic, usually your questions will usually be answered if you post the question properly in the first place.
First you asked for a cable, there are no cables, then you finally mention the wheel sensor code after 3 posts.
It would have been a hell of a lot easier for you to just say that the first time
Also posting which Volvo you own and what year it is.... would GREATLY help

ABS control module can fail in these cars and can trigger both lights. module is in the engine bay.

There is an abs/speed sensor in each wheel and if one is disconnected/defective that also will trigger the light on.

Possible, but rare

YES! It is sensor in the passenger right wheel that needs hooked up. Where does it connect? When I bought the car I was told that they hadjust replaced that sensor, but had not hooked it up yet. I just need to know where to hook it up to. Oh and I thought that I had put it in the earlier post but my car is a 2002.

Thanks

the sensor attaches to the wheel hub on the back,
Remove the driver's side tire and you'll see how its attached there, and do the same to the passengers side.
