Hi, steve in mt arlington nj with 96 850 (1st volvo for me) 200+ miles. abs and trac lights on, speedo reads 40-45 (erratic). After reading some posts on volvo forum and elsewhere determined it to be abs mod and being somewhat electro/mechanical applied 40w iron to pins for minute or less(counted seconds) without taking apart. now, lights off but speedo still not working right. some light solder coating on pins and on two you can see some (very little) plastic bulge at base from heating. Will get pics if really needed.
Does anyone know the pins that control the speedo and I will try to reheat? I might get a rebuilt from matty moo.
Thanks to any that respond.

Not sure if you meant it always reads 40-45, or after your repair. It's hard to say that you ruined it since the fault lights are off, but you pulled the solder down, which isn't really a good thing. A bulged case isn't a great sign either.
could be a cluster problem, but it's hard to say. I haven't heard of any 850 clusters acting up like that.
