How do I remove the power window master switch (on the driver's door panel) and replace it?

you can use a wide blade screw driver (I covered the blade w/blue painters tape to limit any surface damage) and slip in under the front of the retention trim ring that surrounds the actual switch and GENTLY pry it up. It worked for me! Good Luck!

This is while the door panel is still attached I expect?! The Haynes manual suggests I remove the entire panel?!
Oh ya...Where is the "retention trim ring" you refer to?

Thanks again

The cheapest replacement I have found is at www.Tascaparts.com . Around $104.00 + freight for the OEM replacement. It just pops out of the door panel like previously described. Everyone else seems to think it is worth $135.00.

Yeah, what everybody else said.
For what it's worth, I took my switch apart and cleaned out the fuzz and grime from the contacts and it works great. If you're mechanically inclined it isn't hard and it's been fine for over 2 years now.
