2001 V70 T-5 Geartronic w95K

Post by hunterbaye »

I am thinking about purchasing a 2001 V70 T 5 with a Geartronic- with 93K miles
I am getting it inspected at Howard Orloff Jaguar/Volvo
before I purchase it. I have read that there are many problems with this tranny?/
Yes ? No?
Thanks
Jeff

Oh YES
Stay away from 01s unless you have written PROOF of a recent tranny change

...and check that the coolant and transmission oil haven't contaminated each other. Just another reason these transmissions fail prematurely.

Back in '05 when I was shopping, the alternatives for me were Audi avants and Passats. Back then the T5 was a bargain, but today they're about equal. Reason being the audi's and volkswagons have issues that cost much more to repair than Volvos. You would be paying a premium for an '03+ V70, but think about it: there is a chance that you may have to dump $3-4K into a 10 year old car that in a few years will only be worth around $6-8k. You could end up spending the same cash as you would have buying a later year
