I had a 96 845 with the same problem - I assume that you have a flashing orange arrow on the dash & on your pwr/econ switch on the console. There is a selenoid inside the tranny. most dealers will tell you that it's non-servicable & you require a re-build, but find a tech who knows the tricks, & he should know what to do. It's not an unheard of problem. I think the part was around $140.00, but you do have to split the drivetrain to access it.

Has anyone else had this problem? Cause I found out I have the same problem. Does anyone have more information how to get it repaired? Sounds like a long labor. What is selenoid??

Mine just started doin that for no reason last week. When it does go it will get stuck in 3rd gear and will not upshift or downshift.

Are those people who are just experiencing this living in cold regions? Mine did it once when I left it at the airport last winter, it is normally in a heated garage. I didn't do anything to the car except let it warm up for a few minutes before taking off if it is left outside. Mine seemed like the torque converter was draining out while parked and then took awhile to get the ATF back around the trans. It very well could have been a solenoid though.
