Sqealing gear change
Sqealing gear change
Yesterday on my way to work I heard strange noises but did not take anymore notice but on my way home it was obvious something was not right. As soon as I engage my foot on the gear change it starts to sqeal and is gone on release, this is the same throught all five gears. Please can someone help and fingers crossed its no big deal as I really could do without this at the moment.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
A squealing sound that occurs when the clutch pedal is depressed and held is usually caused by a bad pilot bearing or bushing in the clutch mechanism.
I see that you are in Yorkshire but not the exact location. For a quick, and free, diagnosis try Mr. Clutch or one of the Nationwide Autocentres. You can get their locations through this link.
Bill.
