Now that we know that it really did throw the belt (and that I did not misunderstand) and you had no power steering, you also did not have an alternator and you were running on the battery...If the battery voltage drops too low, some modules will go into protection (limp) mode...It probably needs to have everything reset...smarzig wrote:it was tough w.out power steering but i wanted to get a belt and change it myself but opted for a mech.
Right now the car rides PERFECTLY except i have no "on-demand" exceleration getting on a ramp or up a hill. The car will slowly get to 60-70 incrementally. Around town it's fine. Am I stuck going to the dealer?

Pull off your negative battery cable and leave it disconnected for 30+ minutes. After that, tap the brake pedal just to make sure the computer forgets everything.
This will let the car re-learn the adaptives, and may yet get you your power back.

hey thanks eveyrone. I know the battery is in the back trunk but you must be referring to its companion under the hood. Can you tell me what it's next to/ point me in the right direction? I feel like this theory might be the trick i need.

I saw your post in the other thread about the MAP sensor.
If you've got codes, please get them pulled and write down the EXACT code number, not what the scanner tells you it means. Then we will know more.
If there are no codes, try the hard reset. You will need to pull the negative cable off from the trunk.

okkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. here is the latest. I took it to autopalace/zone and they didn't come up with any codes even though its lit up "Engine System Service Required" and showed him. The first first guy that looked at it that replaced my belt i remember DID get a code pointing him to a "TPS" (is what he said). I guess I'll try disconnecting the negative for 30 min then tapping the breaks as suggested above?

ok so autozone/palace couldnt get a code at all. I did the negative cable off for 30 min with the break tap but i couldnt tell if tapping the breaks was before or afer turn it back on so i did both.
When i started the car it went into limp mode. I restarted it right away and everything came back.
Although i still have no acceleration per se, when i hit the gas, the RPM's jump and the engine revs but
the car's speed itself doesnt repsond. I can still drive around town fine, but getting on the HW ramp, or
going uphill is a real hazzard because i have no kick. It's like the turbo refuses to kick in.
Summary:
After doing a reset, the engine/RPM's is responsive to the pedal but the car wont go faster no matter what speed I'm doing.
Before when i hit the pedal i didnt really get any response.

you probably need to bite the bullet and take it to the dealer to have them read all the codes that autozone is unable to pick up.
It might well be the ETM that has failed, and if it has your car still under warranty for a free replacement.

I agree, you might be up for a trip to the dealer. My thinking is that it might be a bad pedal position sensor rather than the ETM itself.
First, though, check any turbo hoses you can find, especially the one into the throttle body itself, and the connections at the intercooler. I've blown off the turbo hoses on my S70 on two occasions, and while it ran (once anyway), it didn't run RIGHT - it felt like I was towing a huge trailer behind me.
