normally charge
to replace the wiring harnest in my
1986 240dl??
My Volvo mechanic told me he'd charge me $800.00
Is this reasonable???

I'm not a mechanic, but I do know that getting motor mounts replaced and fixing a water-stall problem with my Volvo cost me $800. I went to a Volvo specialist, too.
I wouldn't doubt the repair you need could be pricey.

Its the whole mail wiring harness that needs to be
redone.
One garage told me $1000
the other $800.

I bought used engine comartment wiring harness for '87 GLE and installed myself in 3 hours. Works great on first try--in spite of a few discrepencies between the old and the "new". So, $800 seems like a lot to me.
