Changed out the small cog or sprocket. It now runs too fast. It ticked off 61 miles on a known 44 mile trip.
The trip odometer on my LED window is still reading the correct miles but the first few miles reads as XXXX. Ex. 1 and 9/10 miles on the wheel odo reads 1900 on the LED. After that the LED goes back to the regaular readings of miles and tenths of miles. Never notice if it has always done this or not.

The first part of your post I don't know what is up. Even if you have non-standard wheels/tires it wouldn't be off by that much. What is the basis of the 44 miles number? If you are unsure of an exact distance you could use the signs on the highway, many road markers have little mileage indicators on them.
The second part: this is normal, my car's trip computer does the same thing. The first mile is measured in meters or something, then it switches to miles.

Verified on the way on home that the analog odometer is ticking off 1.5x faster than the LED trip odometer.
Not a big issue right now since the odo stop working 2 yrs ago and is way behind. (maybe its just trying to catch up

Check your programming on port A-7. It may be programmed for kilometers rather than miles.

44 miles = 70.8 kilometers
sounds like the issue
also does it go from 1900 to 2.0? that would be 1900 meters to 2 kilometers ... people who run kilometers will be chiming in soon but I gotta guess that's whats up.

The digital odom goes from 1900 back to 1 then reads normal.
That explains it and I find where others have had this problem but can't find the procedure to fix it.
Can you tell me how to procede?
On a plus note I found the thread on how to get actual mileage from A7. The previous owner said he never drove it and thought mileage was around 125k. Its actually 134,625 according to Mr. Flashy.

Programming from port A-7.What sends the signal for either Kilometers or miles to the odometer
Press the A-7 port button 5 times (ignition switch to position II) - wait for the LED to light - and then press 1-2-4 and wait until the led lights up again between successive digits and post back what the response code is.
