Rear window water jet blocked or motor?

Post by Red-Arrow »

Yeah I don't get any water from it and I checked the motor and it makes a sound from the underside. I just need to pull the hose off and blow down it if that is possible? I double checked the water jet head and its clear.

How common is it that the motor gets weak? my front jets work ok but there not powerful, the water does not get out the front headlight wipers.

Is there a cheap replacement motor?

The valve by the nozzle on the hatch is probably dead. Here's what you do:

Remove top trim. All of your clips will likely shatter from being old, buy new ones or just screw it to the hatch with sheet metal screws like I did.
Look for the check valve which should be right next to the nozzle under a piece of foam tape
Remove from the car, then take it apart. There is a little ridge where you would pry it apart and then the top cap comes off.
Take out old diaphragm material and save the plastic button and spring.
Get latex glove
put in spring, plastic button, put latex glove over all that, then snap cap back over the top. Trim off excess glove

Replace and test

I think you could use the black or blue non-latex (and stronger) gloves they sell for dying hair but I only had the cheap latex gloves on hand. Just make sure the material is thin.

Also, it is possible that the filter under the right side panel (lift up spare tire door, grab the floor trim and lift firmly) is blocked but that was not the case with me. An in-line fuel filter from a parts store should work in its place.

I never knew about the inline filter near the spare tire. Does anybody have a picture? Its not the nozzle itself as I checked that.

Thanks, I am experiencing similar issues with my hdlamp and rr window squirters also! Have yet to check out what's wrong, but now have an idea what to look for.
