NEwbie post here goes:
I have a 2006 D S model. When I start the car up from warm the heating comes on at full heat regardless as to what temperature settings I have on the console. This eventually settles down after 10 minutes to the temp I have set on the dials. It will blow ice cold though if i set it to Blue on the dials.
How do I remove the central vents above the Stereo? I need to get to the incar phone kit to change it and this is where it appears to be situated. (under the speaker grille on the dash)
Only other issue is when reversing the gear stick periodically jerks forward then back
Any service manual down loads greatly appreciated!!
Great site by the way!

Cheers JDA - On my S60 the radio and ECC are one big unit I assume I have to take it out and split it?
What is the cabin air temp? is this the little sensor by the temp gauge
I have had too many years of company cars where I never had to bother with repairs now I have my own i had better start to learn!!!!
Thanks for your help

the cabin air temp sensor is behind the small grill opening on the right upper area of the ECC. With the ignition on, you can hear the little fan blowing sucking air in.
The sensor fan gets clogged up with lint/hairs, etc and doesn't work as intended. Remove the ECC/radio unit and the sensor is held by 2 screws on the back.

Job done it was clogged up but the bad news is the copper thermo couple thingy is broken which will indicate what the problem is. Unfortunately as you all know Volvo dont supply just the sensor only the whole ECC unit. Cant get second hand one as I will need to get it programmed by Volvo so will try Maplin electronics for new component and replace on PCB where the broken bit is, any ideas any one!!!!
I have taken photos of the whole process so will attempt to upload at some point.

the problem is overzealous suctioning/cleaning from the front, breaks the thin copper wires.
The copper wires are welded at the tip like the letter "V", which faces the grill window. Can you weld the tip of the "V"?

Yes I managed it but it has had no effect on the problem I need to source a new component to solder in place, so I guess once its broken it needs replacing. I have seen a post on the forum as to where to ssource another component but cant remember where it was!!
