I have a v70 non-turbo base model... ECU upgrades can get me up to 250 BHP from 168 according to some internet sources...? thoughts??

Never heard of an ecu upgrade for the 2.4l n/a engine. If someone did offer one I have my doubts on whether the internals of the engine would handle such a jump. Trying to mod this particular engine is about like pissing up a wet rope in my opinion. As you have been advised before here I believe; you can spend a small amount of money and basically see no gain, or spend a substantial amount of money and only see gains that would put you in the h.p. range of other various stock models.

I'm not trying to be "nancy negative" but if you are set on modding a car, sell this one and get a turbo model of your choice. Then you will have something to work with. My wife drove an 04 2.4 n/a for a while and it served its purpose well, but performance and this particular car don't belong in the same sentence. Just out of curiosity where are you seeing a tune that advertises the kind of hp jump you are talking about? Good luck in whatever you do.

I wasn't knocking on your car, we loved the one we had. It just wasn't (nor was it going to be) the fastest thing on the road. The S60 is a nice car, currently driving one now. I think I'm going to keep the S60, but I am looking for another wagon. The S60 just ain't cutting it as a baby hauler and the Yukon can't pass a gas station without needing to stop. :)

You never saw that ANYWHEREAn ECU upgrade may get you all of 8-10 hp not worth the $1000 or so dollars you will spend
Sell the car and buy a turbo

For all intents, you can't mod a NA.
A major engine rebuld/modification that will not pass any US emision inspection may net you about 230.
I'm talking about a $10,000 engine here
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP
