stalling-flashing lights-codes-puzzlement
ok i reallly did read all the posts. so anyway here's my story. i was slowing down for a turn in my 95 850 no turbo tonight, engine stalled-first time ever-ALL the dash lights came on--have had car for 4 months-140k miles-Car restarted after a minute or two. the yellow arrow and econ/sport lights were flashing alternately. had just gotten car out of shop for fuel breather line repair and apparently the mechanic left secondary leads on battery terminal loose cause when got back home i bumped the battery cable and the engine died again. tightened that up and the car started right up but lights stayed on. ran the codes=got 1-1-1 and did reset. everything cleared up, except check engine light stayed on. noticed brittle vacuum hose coming out of front of manifold, but not sure if it leaks (yet) still concerned abut the check engine light . hmmmmm. ideas? obviously i will be going back to talk with my usually excellent SWEDISH mechanic here in memphis!

If the CE light is on, chances are you'll have a code or several. You may want to check again.

My educated guess based on experience
1. Your ETM is going bad. You can clean the throttle body yourself for nothing but some time and patience or have it cleaned (you can go to a Volvo dealer and demand to have it cleaned for free claiming it is now a known defect). That will improve things temporarily. Having it replaced costs $1, 000. Instructions on cleaning and picture are in the thread.
2. Your CPS (Camshaft Position Sensor) needs to be replaced, you can do that yourself for around $150, just make sure you have a volvo wretch that can fit in the head of the 2 mounting screws.
I'd put my money on 1. as stalling out while DECELERATING (slowing down) is the classical symptom of this part malfunctioning.
