would a 2001 v70 auto transmission work for a 2001 c70?

Post by auto3251 »

I have a 2001 c70 5 speed auto, and want to know if a 2001 v70 geartronic will be a direct drop in with no problem.

my c70 transmission has been acting funny for the last 50k miles.

First of all the 2001 V70 trans is the biggest POS tranny ever made.
The C70, while also a 5 speed did not suffer as much as it didn't use the same (BAD) programming.
Wil they fit, I'm not sure, probably not as the axles are different, but PLEASE do NOT consider this as you will be wasting a ton of money in the long (maybe short) run!

Not exactly and I don't think they ever had the stop neutral software
Similar internals and you probably do need a new one but as I said, I don't think that would fit and you wouldn't want to use it anyway

would you say the 2001 c70 isn't as bad of a transmission as the v70 and isn't as prone to failure? Mechanically and not software. or are they pretty much the same crappy transmission with just a different case?

I looked it up and the 2001 v70 actually does have the same axle as the 2001 c70. Don't see why the transmission would be difference between the two, the front of the car is pretty much the same thing. I got leads on a rebuilt v70 01 transmission and it seems like a good deal is why i ask. I would think the rebuild would use better components.
