2001 v70 t5 fuel door

1st time here, my problem is the release on the fuel door,tether for fuel cap wore out and must have been hanging in the way of course when anyone else drives this car something malfunctions,pushed tether back inside but the door wont release .20degrees out and need to gas up . sprayed wd40 inside through a small crack...cant seem to here a solenoid activate when unlocking or locking doors(with car off) started,shut off a few times at the pump...ready to rip the fuel door off...any help out there.

My S60 has a fuel door release cord, in the trunk. You may have to pull back the trunk-liner to get to it, but its right where you'd think it should be (in the trunk, where the fuel door would be)

(and if you accidentally lock yourself in the trunk, there's a release cord for that, too.)

after waiting for replies,I had talked to a friend that called a "dealers" .....service dept. by hitting the unlock btn on the remote ,and at the same time someone taps the rear fender close to the fuel door near the rear top of the car it opened,dont know if if it was the wd40 or the tap either way i can gas up now,thx for the help all
