Oil leaking from turbo
Hello group! I just bought my first Volvo today! I love it! It's a 97 850 GLT with 118K. Looks to be extremely well taken care of... however there is a rather big oil leak coming from the turbo. It is not the oil return line, but the oil feed line. And I have no idea which line that is. Can anyone shed some light on this with a few pics? I took a few but have not figured out how to post them yet... help with that too would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there...I know this thread is from awhile back, but I had an oil leak I was trying to trace...ended up being a bad alum. washer on my drain pan plug, but in the process I was up in and around the turbo and notice that the intake area (not the area connected to the exhaust) is covered with oil. I may have the same problem as you do....any help appreciated. Is this normal? There is no oil dripping down on the pavement at all from this area (probably why I haven't noticed it before)...just a film of oil covering most of that area including all the hoses...it appears wet. I'm concerned because I drive 100 miles a day to and from work and oil on a hot surface could be dangerous, right?

Check your oil cap's gasket. This often is the culprit of top-down leaks.

Not a top down leak...appears to be from the smaller pcv system hoses or the charge air hose. How do I get in there to deal with this?

Yup, you'll also find a film of oil all over the inside of your intercooler piping. Take this as a good sign though as it means that your PCV system worksMadeInJapan wrote:Is this normal? ?
