Blinkers still blinking fast after bulb replacement

Post by priapism »

So the right turn signals are blinking fast. I replaced the bulbs, checked the grounds, made sure they're conneced right...still blinking fast. It gives a "turn signal failure" in the check panel every time you turn right, which is annoying.

I'm assuming it's the socket itself. Is that a safe assumption?

If so, is there a way to test which one is bad?

I just ha the same issue. Have you tried to visually verify a bulb is not blinking. If not turn your hazards on and do a walkaround of the car to see which one isn't working. It might also be the side repeaters in the fenders. If you verify all the bulbs are working, try swapping the left socket to the right socket for the front and rear to see if the issue follows. I ended up having a defective front socket and it was only $14 from the dealer and it comes with a new bulb.

If you haven't resolved it yet: I found that my Volvo is pretty picky about the circuit which tests to see if a brake light or turn-signal light is out. I had to replace the left and right bulbs in pairs to get the error message to stay off. Definitely the bulbs should be same manufacturer / part number.
Hope this helps.

Actually the other day I noticed the front blinker is out again! Either I touched the bulb when I put it in or the socket is bad.

I also noticed at Autozone that there is an 1157 and an 1157A, hope I didn't come home with the wrong one last time!

I'm going to replace both right side blinkers this time though, thanks.
