I have a 2005 S40 is there a way to pop the trunk from inside the car.

Not by pulling a lever or pushing a button from the driver's seat. In an emergency this is from the owner's manual:

Opening the trunk from the inside
U.S. models only
The car is equipped with a florescent handle on the inside of the trunk lid, which can be used in an emergency situation to open the trunk from the inside.
Pull the handle down to release the trunk lid. After use, the handle must be pushed back into its original position before the trunk can be closed.

on my key there is a trunk button. Can I pop the trunk using the key?? I dont know if I should get the key checked

Pressing the unlock button twice within 10 seconds should unlock all doors and the boot (trunk) lid. Pressing the boot lid button on the remote should unlock only that.

yeah i have an 04 s40 and havent found any way to open from the inside yet. using your key only unlocks it...I don't even touch it.
