I'm ashamed to say that my '93 960 wagon has been getting around 13mpg in mostly suburban running. I didn't relaise it was that bad until I worked out the figures. The vehicle carries an extra 130 pounds in gear/tools. To make it worse it's a work vehicle which does around 250 miles a week.

I have replaced the MAF and have a O2 sensor on the way. Let's hope it improves.

Would be very interested to hear from other 960 owners......especially early wagons.

My 98 S70 GLT sees mixed city/highway driving and has been averaging about 23 - 24 mpg for the past year plus some.

I get about 23-24 mpg with my 94 850 na auto (245K on motor). that's about 70/30 hwy/city in the northwest. i do have studded snow tires on the front and bad struts, sway bar links and strut mounts. the tires are toed out bad to because i never i got it aligned after the engine swap cause the suspension was so shot. new links, struts, mounts, inner and outer tie rods. fuel filter, air filter, and alignment this weekend should help! :?

98 V-90 with 158K. It's mostly stock I'm running all synthetics in the engine and trans have blocked the air box full open to the cold side and opened everythng up in the flow path. I have a set of Voxx 16's with P-4's and am running 40 PSI in them ( I was running these at 32PSI and it massacred my MPG I was down around 14 in town till I went up to the 40 PSI) along with a few other small tweaks.
She has been getting around 18 in town and 25 or so on the road as of late but I have evidently had a bad TPS for quite a while. Just replaced it today and I can tell a major difference both in the trans shift points and throttle response so it should help the MPG.

I don't know know about my city/highway, but I average 31 when I'm mostly commuting (116 miles on freeway, 16 miles in town, per day), and if I'm mostly driving around town it drops to about 25. 1997 850 T5 with 161k running 19psi, 205/55-16's, Ipd springs. Those numbers are by doing the math myself as my computer reading can be off by 1-2.5 mpg.

Wow 2-3 Heaven! You only have 19 psi in your tyres???? Those consumption figures are great, what's your secret?

Over the past two years I have recorded every dime spent on this car - from car washes to tolls to fuel. Over that time I have had an overall average fuel economy of 22.7 mpg. Highest single tank mileage was 32.8 mpg (road trip on interstate at the speed limit), lowest tank mileage 17.4 (suburban driving, short trips).

The car has averaged $12.93 in fuel per 100 miles.

Total cost to operate this car, including tolls, license, taxes, insurance, AAA, repair, tire rotations, etc., since Feb 2008 has been $3,998.81. Which is $0.28 per mile. That does not include depreciation costs which would more than double that figure..

I use http://www.spritmonitor.de which makes keeping tabs easy and does all the cost analysis for me.

2000 V70XC - given to a friend, wish I still had it.

Well, having put the right plugs in, I've been instantly rewarded with an average 23mpg. Dizzy heights indeed! BTW my car has 129,000 miles on the clock and I do a good mixture of driving, short runs and lengthy journeys.
